What does high blood pressure mean?

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension is a heath complication that occurs when the blood pressure increases to a very high degree that makes the body’s state of health complicated. The heart is responsible for blood circulation throughout the body. This organ gets completely overworked with high amount of blood being assed to the blood transportation vessels.

As this high blood passing increases, it meets some resistances. Part of which is caused by narrow arteries. When the arteries are too narrow while the heart gets too much of a responsibility, the blood pressure becomes higher.

Hypertension or blood pressure used to be a disease of the aged people. That is no more the case. In fact, about half of the world’s population is believed to be suffering from high blood pressure or hypertension. That simply means it is becoming too rampant in youths.

It is of extreme importance to detect high blood pressure early. This will aid a quick recovery from it as your doctor gets to treat it before it gets out of hand. When discovered early, it can be gotten rid of in a few weeks.


Symptoms of high blood pressure

Unlike many other deadly diseases, hyoertension is not easily detected. The symptoms do not come early but the sign still show up eventually. What makes hypertension very hard to detect is the fact that its symptoms can in most cases be attributed to other diseases.

Among these symptoms are:

  • Dizziness and breath shortness
  • Headaches
  • Chest pain and flushing
  • Visual changes
  • Urine blood

Once a couple of these symptoms begin to show up, it is expected of you to get to a doctor immediately. Although they might be indications for another disease, it is still important that you go for a checkup.


Causes of hypertension

Before we proceed, it is important that we mention to you that there are two categories of hypertension; the primary hypertension and the secondary. Each is caused by different health issues.


Causes of primary hypertension

This hypertension is known to be essential as there is no clear understanding of its causes. This high blood pressure is believed to be developed by most people. Despite the uncertainty, scientists still believe that three factors are probable causes. These are:

  • Genetic inheritance: Many of the people suffering from high blood pressure developed it through genetic mutations passed down to them from the parents.
  • Body physical changes: It is believed that a sudden change in how the body organs react to things around us including our diet may result in hypertension. An instance is how the kidney reacts to what is being ingested in aged people.
  • Lifestyle: Certain lifestyles warrant development of hypertension. Among these are unhealthy diet, lack of exercises, too much alcohol intake, etc.


Causes of secondary hypertension

This form of hypertension is deadly and develops very quickly. Its causes are:

High amount of alcohol intake

  • Drugs
  • Kidney diseases
  • Heart defects
  • Medications side effects
  • Some endocrine tumors
